DEFINITELY!

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

“We are all Christians here. Anyone you ask, father, mother, child, anyone; they will all say they are Christian.”

This was one of the first things that Peter ever told us. To new missionaries who have uprooted their entire lives to come spread the word of God here, this may cause one to think, “Did I come to the wrong place? There doesn’t seem to be much of a need here.” I can’t remember if that crossed my mind then, but we have been here for almost 1.5 years now and we have seen Peter’s statement to be altogether misconceived. Yes, many have heard of the name of Jesus. Unfortunately that is as deep as it goes. The misunderstandings about the gospel are abounding, and one most terrifying one is a lack of assurance in one’s salvation. You ask almost any church-goer a few questions about their faith and you will swiftly become aware that their control of their sin is what they think will get them to heaven or not. That is why Peter Emphasizes, “I believe I will go to heaven, DEFINITELY!” as he talks about his newfound assurance of salvation (Hebrews 10:22). Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine! What an incredible realization for Peter as we finished our Bible study together. We pray that as Jess teaches his sister Josephine she could come to a similar realization.

Alongside our Bible studies, we have been prepping towards moving into to a tribe with hope of seeing others like Peter come to know Jesus. In that regard we have great news! Our comprehensive survey is scheduled for October 23-30th! Praise the Lord He has been clearing a path for us to be a part of reaching the unreached in PNG. We have also had many meetings with our team to discuss our ministry strategy and to talk about housebuilding. Praise the Lord that another missionary with building skills was available this last week to help us build all of our cabinets! There is plenty more we could talk about, but we’d rather you spend your time praying than reading! Thanks for tuning in! See you next time.

Prayer and Praise

  • Thanks so much for praying for our survey and for us to use our “in-between time” wisely. The Lord has been faithful to answer these prayers! Please pray for us as our team preps for the survey and pray for the people we will live and minister among in the hopefully near future!

  • Pray for our co-workers the Weavers who are back in the US for home assignment. We are eagerly awaiting their return and are praying that their family is refreshed during this time.

  • Please pray for Peter as he grows in his faith and pray for his wife Julie too.

  • Please pray as well for Josephine, Peter’s sister, whom Jess is teaching. They are almost done with the Bible Study! Please pray that she would come to know the Lord Jesus as her savior.

  • Pray for the continued strengthening of our walks with the Lord as well as our marriage.
