19 Days of Training Left

"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will act."
- Psalm 37:4-5

"The source of our delight will determine the level of our stability."
-Unknown

If my heart's greatest delight is ultimately found in the Lord, then the desires of my heart will be abundantly filled by Him regardless of external factors in life that I cannot control. Jesus wants to fill me up so I can be poured out like a drink offering to others. I cannot love and serve without continually receiving and reflecting on the love of my good and gracious father.

Missionary Technology Class

Missionary Technology is a course designed to help us prepare practically for living in a remote location. We learned things like water filtration, direct and alternating current, soldering, using a solar panel electrical system, lightning protection, transformers, converters, and more! The number one value they taught us in regards to this area is this: "time is a non-replaceable resource." They wanted us to understand that we bring some of these conveniences overseas with us, not just for the sake of living more comfortably, but mainly to free us up to have more time to spend developing relationships with the people, teaching and translating God's word, and discipling them.

Literacy

Once we learn the language and culture of the people group we are in, we will create an alphabet and develop a literacy program to teach the people how to read and write in their language. In the literacy class we recently took here at training, we developed a primer for English speakers. Primers are used to teach literacy by introducing sounds in the language one at a time.

Timeline

April 5-9: Membership Orientation
April 10: Graduation!
After graduation: support raising/partnership development and spending time with family and friends before moving to Papua New Guinea, Lord willing January 2022!

Praises:

  • For an amazing time of fellowship at a ladies' retreat this past weekend for women here at the training center.

  • For all the ways God is growing me both inside and outside of the classroom.

  • That we get to have an in person graduation and parents' day here.

  • For the relationships I have developed with people in my church here over these past 2 years.

Requests:

  • That I would be intentional with the last of my time here in Roach

  • For Luke and I's relationship - that we would be encouraging one another in our walks with the Lord. Also for guidance, clarity, and peace in decisions about our futures.

  • For continued growth in my walk with the Lord - that I would be less and less dependent upon myself and increasingly more dependent upon Him.

Thank you for your support, prayers, and encouragement. I can't do this without you, it takes a team and I am so grateful for the team God has given me so far! With love, Jess
