My cup overfloweth. If I could sum up the past month in one word it would be this: Abundance.

99%!? SHEEEESH!

Jess and I struggled to do the first grade level addition to determine what we would need for Papua New Guinea TOGETHER and when we added all we had, and looked at what we needed as a couple, it turned out that we were already at 75%! In one short month the Lord has dumped out his abundant provisions upon us and brought us up to 99% of the monthly finances we need to live, survive, thrive, and do ministry in PNG. After many delays and stops along the way it seems like some fog has cleared and lights are green to head to Papua New Guinea in January! We are definitely celebrating what God seems to be doing with his provision but it is SO VITAL for us to look to God, rather than the fortunate circumstances that He brought us into.

“At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.’” - Revelation 19:10

Even John, while experiencing the glory of God, managed to worship the wrong thing. We must be careful not to put our circumstances on the throne, but look to the GOD OF the circumstances.

“For, because you trusted in your works and your treasures, you also shall be taken; and Chemosh shall go into exile with his priests and his officials.” - Jeremiah 48:7

There are a multitude of verses in Jeremiah (48:7, 49:4-5, 49:31-32 & 51:13) repeating the tragedy of people and nations trusting in their treasure or circumstances; it never turns out well. It reminds me that it is not the success of reaching a high percentage that will sustain me as I head overseas, but the Lord behind that provision. I need to make sure I keep this in view and hold my plan with WIDE OPEN hands as I follow where I believe him to be leading. I pray you reading this can do the same as the Lord overflows your own cup.

Meanwhile, I have been still serving at the missionary training center as Jess and I plan for our wedding and eventual departure overseas! I also had a SWEET opportunity to take my grounds and maintenance role up to Wisconsin to serve at the bible school with Ethnos360 while Jess and I get more involved in her sending church and I will soon be headed back to the missionary training center to finish up my time there before getting married! Thanks so much for your prayers and support! I’ll see ya next time!

Prayer and praise

  • Praise the Lord for his abundant provision! Even though things are going really well, we would love prayer for that last percent as well as the finances we need to raise for our tribal house in PNG

  • Please pray for our relationship and our timeline as we look towards being married and in PNG as early as January

  • Please pray for the time after we are married because we will need to really get things going with renewing our passports after Jess changes her last name and getting paperwork in on time for PNG

  • We would love prayer that we would have the right focus on God as we busy ourselves with wedding planning

  • Please pray even for our future teammates and the tribe that we will one day be working with
