Good Gifts
“It’s a boy!” I proclaim with tears liberally flowing as the medical staff show me my son. The wait is over. Naz William Thek is here. We are more grateful than we have ever been in our lives besides when we were saved by Jesus. Naz and Jess are healthy and we can’t stop praising the Lord for such incredible blessings. It is this wild abundance of blessings that makes me think of some lines from “The Mover”, a puritan prayer in a collection called The Valley Of Vision:
“O Lord, I am astonished at the difference
between my receivings and my deservings,
. . .
O that such a crown should fit the head of such
a sinner!
such high advancement be for an unfruitful
person!
such joys for so vile a rebel!”
The whole prayer is more about contrition in regards to our salvation, but I think of it the same way in regards to other blessings. Not only is it absolutely nuts that God loved us who sinned against him so much that he died for us, but ON TOP OF THAT he even blesses us with many other good things in this world.
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! - Matthew 7:11
We are grateful for the next few months we have in the states as we adjust to parenting and enjoy time with our families, friends, and home church in Atascadero, CA. We are already working on Naz’ paperwork for PNG. We hope to head back in January to continue learning the Uruwa language and culture so that we may one day teach and translate the Word of God and see, Lord willing, a mature church established among them.

Prayer and Praise
Praise the Lord for a healthy baby! What an incredible display of God’s grace.
Pray that we would already be honoring the Lord with how we parent our little new-born child.
Though we are in the US, many gospel opportunities abound. Pray that the Lord would be true to His word and work in us to take advantage of being able to share the gospel with people that we already share a culture and language with here in the US.
Please continue praying for language and culture learning for our co-workers, the Weavers and the Brendles.
Pray that the Lord would provide us favor in allowing us to receive Naz’ passport and visa in time for us to return to PNG in January.
Pray for God to be preparing the Uruwa people’s hearts to hear and receive the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ one day. Pray that He would be using our lives to be ambassadors for Him as we seek to display His love.
Please pray for continued team unity.
Pray for the continued strengthening of our walks with the Lord as well as our marriage.
