Flight Shortage to Flight Schedules
“Should we change what we wrote about the fuel situation?” I asked Luke, moments before we were about to send out our last e-mail update. “No, just send it!” Luke replied. We had heard some promising rumors going around that the main fuel supplier for the country may be starting to supply fuel again. We sent it off, knowing that despite potential changes, prayers over the situation make a difference. Only an hour later, our aviation department confirmed the amazing news - the main fuel supplier started supplying fuel again and that they could schedule us some flights for a work trip! We went from potentially waiting 2 months for fuel to come from New Zealand, to having a flight booked the next week! A few days later they told us since they were more confident in receiving fuel, we could schedule all the flights for the next month to fly in the rest of our building supplies!
We are confident that all the people praying had an involvement in the outcome. And even if we had to wait 2 months, God is still good! He is good even when we don’t understand his ways. He doesn’t ask us to know or understand everything, but to trust him. We would appreciate continued prayers for a stable fuel supply for the country long-term. The main supplier could stop supplying fuel again at any moment, as they had previously expressed their plans to end their business in the country.
The men on our team along with a few volunteers, went in to work on the finishing work on the 2 houses that are up. One missionary fell onto a floor joist and got the wind knocked out of him. He came back to the clinic in Goroka and thankfully he didn’t break any bones, but his ribs are bruised. On a previous trip, our co-worker Chris took a terrifying fall; he fell 18 feet onto a bamboo fence! He walked away without any broken bones, only scratches on his chest and a few holes in his shirt. We definitely sense God’s protection around us and are praising him and thanking him for those blessings.
During the month of April we will be shuttling the rest of the materials and continuing to build. The framing for the Weaver’s house will begin on April 12. I will be going in to finish the floors and paint. A single missionary lady will also come in for a weekend to work on that with me. The other women on our team are also hoping to come in for a weekend this month with their kids as well. We all look forward to continuing to build relationships out there and to moving in.
I just wanted to send out a quick update and to let you all know YOUR PRAYERS MATTER. Thank you for praying with us, not for the sake of our houses be done sooner, but for the sake of the Uruwa people being that much closer to hearing God’s Word in their own language.
THANK YOU. We couldn’t do this without you - the body of Christ supporting us as we serve out here!
